Birdwatching
|
On Bonaire over 200
species of birds can be observed. First of all, famous on Bonaire: the
Caribbean Flamingo. This beautiful, gracious bird chooses Bonaire for the
perfect conditions needed for breeding. The pink flamingo is seen most at
Goto Lake and the salt pans. An other tropical bird is the yellow-winged
parrot, protected by law. This is the only parrot native to our
islands.
At Washington
Slagbaai National Park many birdwatching spots can be found.

been mixed a little. |

Only the female are a little more dull in color. |
Troupial |
 |
Icterus
Icterus |
| A great singer and for sure the
most characteristic bird of Bonaire. The contrast between the bright
orange and the black makes this bird a pleasure to watch to. Combined with
its melodical; a special one! The troupial defends its territory in a
spectaculair way. |
Magnificent Frigatebird |
 |
Fregata

| Beautiful view; the bright blue
sky with a pair of these large birds passing by. This giant black bird is
often seen where the fisher men are, leading each other to where fish can
