Every Child A Christmas Present 2023
Every year, Sunrentals Bonaire collects the presents for ‘Every Child A Christmas Present’. The project ‘Pasku Briante’, organized by the Bonaire Youth Foundation since 2000, is founded to give presents to the less fortunate children on Bonaire.
In December, presents can be donated for Pasku Briante. Gifts may not be more expensive than $20 each and can be brought (unwrapped) to the collection point at Kaya Grandi 65 (Sunrentals office). The Youth Foundation will organise an event where all the invited children receive their presents, play games and celebrate Christmas! For those who are not physically on Bonaire but would like to contribute financially, we have started a crowdfunding. This funds will be used for more presents, decorations, food and drinks during the celebration. Follow our SunRentals Facebook page for more details and dates when the presents can be donated. Feed the Flamingos!
Already hundreds of chicks and juveniles of Bonaire’s national bird, the American Flamingo, are leaving their sanctuary prematurely and walking around the island as they are severely dehydrated and undernourished. The reasons why this is occurring are thus far unclear. The Wild Bird Rehab’s cry for help for cages and food was shared on Facebook and led to a huge response from people around the world, eager to bring food or donate funds for much-needed supplies. But, they still need your help! Many flamingo’s are still brought in weekly and the protein food they need is expensive.
SunRentals would like to support the rehab center and the flamingos and are also asking all our guests to help out. You can do so by donating a dollar per night. This will automatically be added to your reservation, but of course it is not mandatory. Let us know if you rather don’t like to donate.
For more information about the rehab center and the flamingo’s, have a look at their Facebook page.
Our Bonaire Turtles
SunRentals adopted a sea turtle nest. The Adopt-A-Nest program helps the Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire (STCB) to protect the nests that are laid on Bonaire’s beaches in the interests of sea turtle survival.
This support enables STCB to:
- Relocate nests that are in danger of drowning;
- Rescue newborn turtles that become wrapped in roots during hatching;
- Sustain the popular Beachkeeper program;
- Collect data that will help them protect nests better, as well as reveal the health status of Bonaire’s sea turtles.
